Lok Chitrakar

Lok Chitrakar is a self-taught artist that has been practicing the centuries-old Nepali art of paubha for over forty years. He emphasizes the importance of accurate depictions of iconography that are based on ancient Buddhist and Hindu texts. The paintings are skilfully created for a particular purpose, to inspire the state of liberation and the path to get there. By taking part in this ancient artistic tradition, Chitrakar is able to use the system of symbols and icons that can be used to read a painting like a text.
