FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions:

Who is Mahakala?
Mahakala is the Protector of the Dharma in Buddhism. He's the wrathful emanation of the Buddha of Compassion but, don't worry...if you believe in him, he will protect you too! By the way, Mahakala is the handsome blue guy in our logo.

I've been to the Himalaya and love your collection!
That's not a question, but thank you :)

I've been looking at one of your products, but now it's gone...what can I do?
If you love it, chances are others love it too. Once a product sells, you will see 'Sold Out' and we later remove it from the website. Many of our products are one-of-a-kind treasures that we will never find again. For others, we may be able to find another or create a similar one. Send us an email at Mahakala@MahakalaFineArts.com and let us know what you're looking for.

Can you find something for me on your travels to the Himalaya?
Yes, we help many customers source special products. Please send an email to Mahakala@MahakalaFineArts.com and let us know as much as possible for what you are looking for, a photo, your budget, and any timeline.

Can you design jewelry especially for me?
Yes, we design jewelry for many customers and can do the same for you! Just send us an email at Mahakala@MahakalaFineArts.com and let us know what you want and we can design the perfect piece for you, or you can even choose stones and beads personally from our collection and we can design a piece together.

Are your products authentic?
We go to the Himalaya (and a few other places) ourselves to personally source authentic products. If your product is not as advertised, we will take it back and provide a full refund.

Can you gift wrap my purchase?
All clothing, jewelry, and scarves are beautifully gift wrapped in premium boxes and wrapping. These are perfect for gift giving! Prints are shipped in a hard cardboard tube to keep them safe in shipping.

How are your prints made?
Our prints are the highest quality reproductions you can find because we use the same process that are used by the top museums worldwide. We use printers that are specially made for high quality art, but the magic is in how we capture the image. Rather than photograph the art, which is most common, we scan the original paintings using a special scanner that is designed for top end art. This process avoids the white reflection spots and other distortions that photography often produces. The result are prints that look amazingly close to the original.

Do the prints really look like the original?
We have many famous artists and art experts come to our gallery to see our exhibitions firsthand. Most of these people believe that the prints are the original, and can't believe it when we tell them that they are prints. Most importantly, each of our prints is approved by the artists themselves before they become part of our Mahakala Fine Arts 'Collector's Edition' series. The only thing that can not be replicated is the 24K gold that is used on some of the original pieces. The gold on the prints look great, but does not shine like the original.

How should I frame my artwork?
Beautiful art deserves a beautiful frame. We recommend bringing your artwork to a local framer. Lay out the artwork and see which frames and matting look the best to you. A good framer will make suggestions, but choosing the right frame is a very personal matter and there is no right or wrong choice. We have had customers chose to buy a frame online. If you do this, we highly recommend first receiving the artwork and measuring the exact dimensions before ordering the frame.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We use the Shopify platform and accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, and JCB. For large purchases, we prefer a bank wire.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do! We do our best to keep the costs down and the shipping times fast. Please visit our Shipping section for more details.

How long will shipping take?
Shipping varies by destination. We ship within China within a few business days after the order is made. Usually, economy shipments to the US take about 5-12 business days, to Europe takes about 5-12 business days, Australia usually takes 4-9 business days, and within Asia takes about 2-5 days. If you are in a remote area, it could take a little longer. Shipping during the Covid-19 period has been taking longer than usual and we appreciate your understanding.

How do I return something to Mahakala Fine Arts?
We hope you love your purchase! If you have some problem, please let us know ASAP via email at Mahakala@MahakalaFineArts.com and we will do everything we can to help. You can learn more about returns in our Returns section.

It's been longer than 7 days....can I still return my purchase?
I'm sorry but we can't accept returns beyond the 7-day deadline. You are certainly welcome to exchange it for another product, per our Returns policy.
