Shibori is an ancient dying technique that has been practiced for centuries by artisans in India and Japan. The process starts by dying the cloth in pomegranate, followed by stitching or wrapping thread through and around fabric. The fabric is then dipped into a dye, such as natural indigo. The stitching resists the dye, thereby creating fabulous designs on the cloth. The secrets of this craft has been passed down through the generations and to create an outstanding design takes expertise in stitching as well as the dying process.
